Project Overview
A 275kV switching station is a transmission node: the point where high voltage power is switched and routed onto the grid. Kerjaya Prospek (M) Sdn Bhd holds the construction works for one in Kempas, Johor Bahru, and Green City Machinery supplies the plant.
Our scope covers excavators and a compactor.
Substation civils are a specific kind of earthwork. Before any equipment is installed there are cable trenches to cut, foundations and equipment plinths to excavate, drainage to form, access platforms to build, and all of it to be backfilled and compacted to specification, because settlement under energised switchgear is not something anyone wants to discover later.
That is why the compactor sits on the same account as the excavators. Dig, backfill and compact are one sequence here, not three separate hires.

The Challenge
Substation civils happen in a fixed compound with controlled access, and the work is sequenced tightly: trench, install, backfill, compact, move on. There is little room to stage machines, the tolerances on levels and compaction are set by the electrical works that follow, and once equipment starts arriving the window for heavy plant closes.
