Project Overview
The Northpoint data centre in Iskandar Puteri is a hyperscale development built by IJM Construction Sdn Bhd, with a first phase covering a six-storey data centre building plus supporting facilities. Green City Machinery supplies IJM with plant and haulage on that site.
Our scope covers four machine types: backhoe loaders, excavators, tipper lorries and dump trucks.
The two haulage machines on that list are not the same thing, and getting them mixed up costs contractors money. A dump truck is built for moving spoil around inside the site: articulated, high ground clearance, happy on soft and uneven ground, and not road-legal. A tipper lorry is road-registered and takes material off site legally on public roads. Our tippers carry Class ‘A’ permits.
On a site the size of Northpoint you need both, and you need them on one schedule with the excavators and backhoes feeding them. That is what we supply.

The Challenge
A hyperscale data centre generates a very large volume of material, and it has to keep moving. Ground inside an active site is soft and uneven, so road lorries cannot always reach the working face; but material still has to leave site legally on public roads. Split that job between two suppliers and the handover between them becomes the bottleneck.
